It’s the weekend, let’s binge!
Wow! (in my Owen Wilson voice) Wow! There is just too much good telly to stream this weekend! We have the final season of one of my fave capitalism-gone-unchecked series — Billions 💰, one of my very favorite series on Hulu — Only Murders in the Building 🔪, a new season streaming with guest stars Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd, and one of my favorite directors has his latest film premiering on Peacock straight out of theaters — Asteroid City! ☄️ All of that and a new season of Men in Kilts with two strapping lads from Outlander who I’ll be toasting my wine-of-the-weekend to as they take their travel series to a new breathtaking locale (where there’s wine!) 🍷. Men In Kilts on STARZ x Invivo x SJP
This is a very cheeky series about two best friends traveling across a vast region of land by van discovering the culture, food, and landscape all while having the best of times. Their first trip was to Scotland, where they showed audiences many of the filming locations for Outlander. Looking forward to seeing the boys in New Zealand to see what they have planned for us.
Call me predictable, but this weekend I’ll be pairing Sarah Jessica Parker’s wine from New Zealand with the first episode of Men in Kilts: Road Trip with Sam & Graham. I’m still needing to explore the wine region of NZ, so I’m not going to make a recommendation that I haven’t tried. Invivo Sauvignon Blanc 2021 (you can find it at most Total Wine & More stores) runs about $17 a bottle. It’s a pretty approachable white wine, drinkable, with these zesty notes of ripe apricot, melon and citrus. You can also taste the slight zing of candied ginger on the palate. The wine helms from the Marlborough region which accounts for three quarters of New Zealand’s wine production. There are over 158 wineries there — who wants to book a trip to New Zealand with me?
