Sam Heughan To Stay At STARZ in Steamy Thriller ‘The Couple Next Door’

We might finally get to see Sam Heughan in modern-day clothes with a new thriller series A Couple Next Door. Co-starring Poldark’s and The White Queen’s Eleanor Tomlinson, the series will star the duo playing neighbors who (Shocking!) have an affair. Evie moves to an elite suburb with her husband, Pete. Of course Evie and Pete become friendly with neighbors Danny and Becka (I mean, wouldn’t you be friendly with a neighbor who looked like Sam Heughan?). Danny and Evie end up spending the night together that will change the course of their lives. The series is currently filming in the U.K.

‘Man On Fire’ Gets Remake At Netflix

Remember that action film starring Denzel Washington and little Dakota Fanning? Now Netflix has ordered an 8-episode series remake. The show will be written and produced by Kyle Killen from Halo and is said to be based on A.J. Quinlan’s first two novels, “Man on Fire” and “The Perfect Kill”. There are five books in total, but you know how Netflix likes to wait to see how popular a series is with an audience before committing to more episodes. Is Netflix an Aquarius? lol.

Jessica Chastain To Star in ‘The Savant' at Apple TV+

After Jessica Chastain’s critically acclaimed Showtime series George & Tammy ignited the small screen, she’s now headed to Apple TV+ for an 8-episode limited series, The Savant inspired by an article published in Cosmopolitan. While the plot of the series is being kept hush-hush at the moment, the August 2019 article details the true story of a woman known as “The Savant” who infiltrates online hate groups to help stop mass-scale public attacks. Chastain will produce the series and Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards) will serves as writer and showrunner.

Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey To Star In Western ‘The Abandons’ At Netflix

I love Lena Headey. Every GOT fan has a favorite character and Cersei was by far my fave. Now the evil queen will be trading in her royal robes for some boots and spurs in the upcoming Western The Abandons for Netflix. Producer Kurt Sutter, who famously brought us Sons of Anarchy, created The Abandons in which Headey will star as Fiona, described as “a devout matriarch with a strong-willed Irish temper”. The Abandons Plot: “As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, justice is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.” Looks like Netflix is getting inspired by the Yellowstone universe.

Trevor Noah To Host Prime Video’s ‘Lol: Last One Laughing’

Trevor Noah is returning as host, but not at The Daily Show. The comedian will return to his native South Africa to host the first South African version of Lol: Last One Laughing for Amazon Prime. The competition series will have 10 famous South African comedians and entertainers compete for one million Rand, earmarked for a South African charity of their choice. Noah said in a statement, “I am equally delighted for the opportunity to be working alongside my fellow home-grown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains, but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.”

Reboot of the Week: Ryan Coogler In Talks To Reboot The X-Files

Still whispers in the wind, but X-Files creator Chris Carter revealed on a podcast series that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is looking to reboot the popular supernatural series, The X-Files — reimagining it with a diverse cast. The show would look to adapt to modern times especially with the world sunk deep into conspiracy theories that it could be quite relevant and adhere to the idea of the original series. The OG X-Files series which ran from 1993-2001 (picking up again in 2016-2018) is now streaming on Prime Video and Hulu.
