Sherri Papini Hoax Documentary In Development At Hulu
Remember that strange kidnapping hoax about the young woman who went out for a job and said she had been kidnapped? Now Hulu is making a true-crime documentary out of it. The docuseries is currently in development from the filmmaker behind Hulu’s The Girl From Plainville and will chronicle the six-year journey of self-proclaimed kidnapping victim Sherri Papini — from her disappearance to her arrest. Papini was 34-years old when she disappeared from her rural neighborhood in Northern California. Hulu is banking on this story to follow its successful stream of true-crime documentaries including Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons which is currently the most-watched documentary series in Hulu’s history.

In Memoriam: Oscar-Winning Screenwriter Bo Goldman (September 10, 1932-July 25, 2023) 🎥 ✍️
Maybe you’ve never heard his name, but I guarantee you are familiar with his legendary work as a screenwriter. Goldman is the Oscar-winning writer of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and 1980’s Melvin and Howard. He has penned the scripts for Scent of a Womanstarring Al Pacino, Meet Joe Black starring Brad Pitt, and the film that started the romance between Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell — Swing Shift (1984). Golden was born in New York City and went to school at Princeton where he wrote, produced and composed music. After graduation he went straight to Broadway and was the lyricist for “First Impressions”, a stage production of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Goldman moved into writing for public television before writing a script titled “Shoot the Moon” where captured the interest of Cuckoo director Milos Forman. His first produced script for One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest won him the Academy Award in 1975 as well as the Oscar for Best Picture. Goldman wrote The Rose starring Bette Midler which was also nominated for four Oscars. His first script Shoot The Moon was finally produced in 1982 and starred Diane Keaton and Albert Finney. Other films he has written include Ragtime (1981), The Flamingo Kid (1984), Dick Tracy (1990), and City Hall (1996).

Born on this Day: Clara Bow (1905-1965)
When you talk about the “IT Girl”, Clara Bow was the first to have this title. An actress in the silent film era, her look and vibe was quintessential Roaring 20s. Clara Gordon Bow was born July 29, 1905 in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in a home of poverty and violence. Her absentee and abusive father did not provide for her and her mother who was diagnosed as schizophrenic. Her father tried to slit Clara’s throat when she talked of dreams of becoming an actress, but the abuse did not stop her. Bow won a beauty pageant contest that launched her movie career, one that would have her star in 58 films between 1922-1933. She was the most popular actress of her time, receiving more than 45,000 fan letters a month! Her popularity also landed her in court as she tried to defend herself against unpaid taxes and charges of stealing other women’s husbands. At the age of 26, Bow married cowboy star Rex Bell and retired from film two years later. She raised her two sons while battling mental illness which would often confine her to sanitariums over the years. She passed of a heart attack in West Los Angeles in 1965 at age 60.
