The Weekend Binge: Oscar Predictions, Miley’s Back On Disney, New Spies & Detectives Series
It’s the Weekend, Let’s Binge!
Remember when you actually used to go to the movies every weekend and not stay at home and watch what was on channel 2, 4, 7 and 11? Those were the days and also the days when the Oscars were the most watched event on television, even beating out the Super Bowl. Those days have since gone as more people have tired of lengthy award show formats honoring films that many people have not had a chance nor care to see. Luckily, this year most of the Oscar nominees are available to stream and I’m going to give you my predictions in case anyone still fills out those at-home Oscar ballots. In case you’re not into the Oscars you can stream plenty of new premieres like Miley Cyrus’ new music special on Disney+ and an intriguing new spy drama starring Damian Lewis of Billions.

My Oscar Predictions! (top categories)
Best Picture - Everything, Everywhere All At Once
Best Director - Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert - Everything, Everywhere All At Once
Best Actor - Brendan Fraser, The Whale
Best Actress - Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Supporting Actor - Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Supporting Actress - Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Original Screenplay - Everything, Everywhere All At Once
Adapted Screenplay - Women Talking
Best International Film - All Quiet on the Western Front
Unpopular opinion: I didn’t like Everything, Everywhere All At Once like most people did. I thought all the parts separately were wonderful, creative and truly deserve all the awards, but collectively as a film, it just wasn’t for me. Although I love the absurdity of the Marvel-esque type superhero aesthetics, it was the mother-daughter relationship that was the diamond in the story and the beauty and heartbreak of that got rather tangled up in hot dog fingers (IYKYK). The Oscar frontrunner is currently streaming on Showtime.
