Sip & Stream 🍷 📺 : Smartless & Being Mary Tyler Moore x Sculpterra 2020 Zinfandel Reserve
Okay, I’m giving MAX a second chance to redeem itself in its documentary category after the upset that was the Donna Summer documentary. I was so excited to stream it and it was just blah. It was not well executed at all. For true fans of hers, it really left a lot of music on the cutting room floor and focused more on her kids finding old family videos of hers without providing much context at all.
If you want a better documentary about icons of the 70s, I highly recommend the Tina documentary and the Bee Gees documentary, both on MAX — and Laurel Canyon on MGM+ is one of my all-time fave 70s music docuseries. In the meantime, I am raising another glass (this time of Sculpterra’s delicious Zinfandel out of Paso Robles) to two more documentaries that I hope will fare much better.
Being Mary Tyler Moore
This documentary is already getting great reviews and tells the incredible story of Mary Tyler Moore’s career who not only was an actor and performer, but an advocate who revolutionized the portrayal of women in media, paving the way for future generations.
Smartless: On The Road
If I had to pick a TV boyfriend, it would definitely be Justin Bateman. He comes across as funny, charming, and also just a great actor in both dramatic and comedic roles. Ozark and Arrested Development are two series that are some of the my favorite of all time. This new reality/documentary series is based on Justin Bateman, Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes, and 30 Rock’s Will Arnett podcast of the same name as they take their show on the road and are met with some famous cameos including Will Ferrell.
Sculpterra 2020 Zinfandel Reserve
If you can get past the beautiful purple hue of the wine, take a sip to discover a fragrant palate of spice and oak, with bold fruit flavors by way of blueberries and strawberries and a touch of sweetness reminiscent of chocolate covered strawberries. This is a wine that stands alone without a big, meaty meal — dry and full-bodied.
Happy Streaming! 🍷📺
