Monday Musings: Sobbing at the Sags, Ted Lasso Ice Cream, and Bamboozled By Tár
Enjoying Biscuits with the Cat 🐈
Another Monday, another exciting announcement from the camp at Ted Lasso — this time they are dropping their first official trailer for the third and final (insert alligator tears here) season of everyone’s favorite series. Despite the 12-episode goodbye, I am waiting patiently for March 15th to arrive so I can get on the feel-good wagon of this series (I tend to watch all the heavy dramatic/scary stuff on TV).
Here’s what I’m musing about….
SAGS & SOBS
Did you catch the SAG awards last night or did you just watch all the edited videos on Instagram like I did? The two people I want to get in a group hug with (everyone is invited!) are Brendan Fraser who won for Lead Actor in a Motion Picture for The Whale and Ke Huy Quan who won for Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. I literally can not with how freaking adorable these two men are. I love them and find their energy just rocks me to my inner soul. Their heartfelt speeches were full box of tissues-worthy. I also want to extend an extra octopus arm to Jamie Lee Curtis (winner of Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for EEAAO) because she’s just a jewel of a human too. While I have not seen The Whale as of yet, all the performances in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once are deserving of every and any award IMO.
Favorite Looks at SAG — Zendaya in Maison Valentino, Ashley Park in Elie Saab, Austin Butler in custom Gucci, and Cara Delevingne in Carolina Herrera
I Too Was Bamboozled By Tár!
I finally watched Tár last night, the Oscar-nominated film starring Cate Blanchett. In the first scene of the film, Cate’s character Lydia Tár is being interviewed and the host mentions she’s one of just a small elite group of people who is EGOT (winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Now before watching this film I read that this was a biopic picture about a famous composer. I even read an article about how the real Lydia Tár is not happy with this film and how she was portrayed in it. So I pause during this early scene because I’m intrigued by her EGOT status and wanted to know which television show and which film she won awards for (this is the power of the internet and how you can just pause a film and fact-check — see also the power of distraction). So, comes to find out that my search turned up nothing, and not only that but this film is complete fiction. There is no real Lydia Tár and the PR team on this film made up all these articles I read and the wikipedia page. We’ve all been had, people! But, I’m not mad about it, in fact I applaud the clever marketing. Kind of like when Payless Shoe Source invited all those influencers to a fancy shoe store, allowing them to try on and take home an “expensive” pair of shoes, not telling them they were just all cheap BOGO Payless shoes.
