Monday Musings: My Weekend of Pam, Puppies and Missing Limbs
Don’t worry, all my digits are in check
Happy Monday! This is seriously one of my favorite days of the week. It’s a fresh start and the week ahead is looking great. Of course, I’m coming off a weekend of some pretty gory streaming, but we’ll get to that later…

Super Bowl: Rihanna’s Performance
I actually didn’t watch the Super Bowl this year. I’m only here for the clever commercials (see above the Clueless-inspired Rakuten ad) and snacks which I can pretty much have any day of the week. I’m dog sitting for a good friend so my Hulu Live is taking a break this weekend and so am I. I’m streaming mostly movies because I’d hate to mess up anyone’s streaming algorithm — Does anyone else think about this? LOL. (Sorry no Rihanna clip as NFL wouldn’t allow me to post it, but head on over to YouTube to see her performance).
You can also stream Rihanna in…
Nine Ball in Ocean’s Eight (Hulu)
Marion Crane in Bates Motel (Peacock)
Rihanna’s Super Bowl Interview (Apple TV+)
Oscar Streaming In Progress — Watch Out for Your Fingers!
Since I’m only streaming content I can actually finish this week, I decided to catch up on some of the Oscar nominated films. After watching Causeway, The Banshees of Inisherin, and All Quiet on the Western Front, I realized I spent most of the weekend streaming characters with missing limbs. All three of these films were very indie which I kind of miss when streaming series — they all have these weird, elusive endings that stick with you and make you sit in all these feelings (nothing a glass of wine won’t help wash down). Would I recommend any of these films? Probably not. I wasn’t blown away by any of these. Do I want to visit Ireland again anytime soon? You betcha!

I Was Wowed By Pamela: A Love Story
Everyone’s been talking about this doc (now streaming on Netflix) and I finally got around to seeing it this weekend. I really had no idea about any part of her life. The media only portrayed her as they wanted us to view her which was a dumb blonde with fake boobs, married to a bad boy and basically just trash. She’s so humble and unapologetic about her life. In the doc she wears barely any makeup and lives this down-to-earth life with her mother in her home country of Canada. She takes us on a journey of her entire life up to now — as a Playboy playmate, Baywatch babe, and more recently as Roxie Hart on Broadway in Chicago. I know some Instagram influencers are lobbying for her to be in White Lotus: Season 3 and I’m totally down for signing that petition.
Joe The Ripper Is Back!…..In London.
I just started streaming the first of five episodes of YOU: Season 4, Part One (No spoilers, please!). My first impression of the first episode is I already like it better than the last two seasons. The writing is going back to that clever prose of Season 1 and less of the cliche’d and painfully stupid writing of Season 2 and 3 (I mean, enough of the LA sarcasm — so over it!). Love the cozy backdrop of London with its elite social scene and the little twist of mystery at the end of episode one. It’s like I’m watching a Gossip Girl murder mystery — it was definitely Blair Waldorf with the Baccarat candlestick. P.S. just realized this first episode also had missing limbs. Note to Self: cleanse brain with Disney movie.

What I’m Drinking….
This is pretty much my Monday night glass of wine. Daou Cabernet Sauvignon (the one they sell at Trader Joe’s and other grocers) is probably my favorite go-to especially when curling up with two cute puppies. It’s around $20 and straight outta Paso Robles. Love the dark aromas of ripe berries and how smooth and lush it is on the palate.
