Yellowstone To End With Season 5, Sequel Already In Development
Yellowstone is coming to an end in Season 5 which will air its second part in November. The news comes on the heel of lead star Kevin Costner announcing his exit from the series at the end of the season. While this may come as sad news, Paramount is wiping fans’ tears with a new sequel series that will premiere in December. No details have been revealed about the plot of the new Yellowstone-branded sequel series, but Matthew McConaughey has reportedly been in talks to star. Stay Tuned!
Miles Heizer, Vera Farmiga Cast in Norman Lear’s Dramedy ‘The Corps’
Miles Heizer of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and Vera Farmiga of Bates Motel have been cast in a new Norman Lear-produced dramedy based on Greg Cope White’s memoir, “The Pink Marine”.
The 10-episode series will be set in 1990 and follow Cameron, a bullied, gay high school student who joins the Marine Corps with his straight BFF Ray — which proves to be a risky move when being gay in the military meant jail time. As these two friends tackle Marine boot camp they join a platoon of young men on a journey of transformation. Legendary TV producer Norman Lear (All in the Family, The Jeffersons) will produce the series, Peter Hoar (The Last of Us) will direct and Andy Parker (Tales of the City) is attached to pen the script.
Stanley Tucci’s ‘Searching For Italy’ Looks For New Home 🍝
If you’ve been missing Stanley Tucci roaming the streets of beautiful Italy in search of the best food, you're not alone. The recently canceled series at CNN is looking for a new home. Executive producer Stanley Tucci, who also produced the Eva Longoria-hosted second season set in Mexico, is shopping the travel series to multiple streamers. The series was canceled due to the fact that CNN canceled all its original docuseries programming after merging their content with HBO Max/Discovery. The 7-time Emmy-nominated series could have a home in a few weeks according to Tucci, who told Variety that he is ready to do a Season 3 and beyond.
'Succession’ Finale Episode Will Be As Long As A Movie
If you’re not looking forward to the bittersweet final episode of Succession, creator Jesse Armstrong is giving fans a very long goodbye. The final episode which airs on May 28 will clock in at 90 minutes — the longest episode in the entire series. In running time, that’s considered feature-length which could mean the series finale will feel more like watching Succession: The Movie. Mark Mylod, who directed the indie comedy/horror film The Menu, will direct the final episode.
FX’s Alien Series Casts Sydney Chandler
FX has a new Alien series currently in development and has cast its lead in Sydney Chandler. Chandler is best known for her roles in FX’s The Pistols and Olivia Wilde’s dystopian housewife drama Don’t Worry Darling. She is the daughter of actor Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and will also star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Sugar alongside Colin Farrell. While no details of the plot have been revealed, Noah Hawley of Fargo and Legion will be at the helm of the series as showrunner.
THE WRITER’S STRIKE! 🖊️
Members of the Writer’s Guild of America have gone on strike this week in protest of fair wages for their work on TV series, predominately on streaming platforms. While CEOs of television networks are raking in hundreds of millions of dollars, the writers of the network’s content are receiving nickels in comparison. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery takes in $250 million annual salary — that’s the salaries of over 10,000 writers. The WGA has called for “pens down” which means no writer is allowed to write scripts or edit scripts already in production during the strike.
