‘Barbie' Director Greta Gerwig Gets Two-Narnia Film Deal At Netflix
Greta Gerwig, the “it” director of the moment at the helm of the upcoming Barbie film, has been tapped by Netflix to direct the next two films in the Narnia Chronicles. Gerwig will not only direct, but write the two films based on the C.S. Lewis books of which Netflix has owned the rights since 2018. Netflix’s adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was a huge success and they’re banking on Gerwig’s successful streak of adapting books to screen (2019’s Little Women) to work her magic on at least two more Narnia films.
Peaky Blinders’ Character Used In Political Video Causes Uproar
The entire Peaky Blinders team including show creator Steven Knight and star Cillian Murphy denounced the recent video posted by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis using the show’s footage without permission or official license. The very bizarre anti-LGBTQ ad was presented on DeSantis’ twitter account and contained footage of shirtless men spliced in between images of violent film and TV characters and an image of DeSantis shooting lightning out of his eyes. The Peaky Blinders team condemned the video on their Instagram account by saying. “We do not support or endorse the video’s narrative and strongly disapprove of the use of the content in this manner.”

Born on this Day: Marty Feldman (1934-1982)
Martin Alan Feldman was born in London to Ukranian (Kiev) parents where he spent an impoverished childhood in London’s East End. He left school at the age of 15 to pursue his passion as a jazz musician, but after an appearance in a variety show he was named “the worst trumpeter in the world”. He then dabbled in comedy as a writer for various BBC radio programs and TV shows in the late 1950s. He joked that his face was his fortune — a mangled nose due to his participation in boxing matches as a teen, large eyes from both a hyperactive thyroid and a botched operation after a car accident at the age of 29. Audiences first saw his talent on a larger scale when he appeared in Dean Martin Presents The Golddiggers (1968). However his most notable role was as Igor in Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (1974). In 1982, he died in Mexico City while filming Yellowbeard from a massive heart attack caused by shellfish poisoning, he was just 48 years old.
Young Frankenstein is currently streaming on MAX.
