Itβs the final countdown to 2024!
I took a little holiday break π to get in shape for 2024. So excited to report on the recent TV news hitting the line including the captivating trailers for Ryan Murphyβs new FEUD series (CANβT WAIT!) and Expats featuring Nicole Kidman (this book is still on my TBR pile, but canβt wait to read!).
Can we all do a little happy dance that The Gilded Age (MAX) has been renewed for a third season (loving this series!) and also looking forward to this comedian (see story below) hosting the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.

Netflix Reveals the Most Watched Shows in 2023 (January-June)
Netflix released its top streams of the first half of 2023 (January-June). Fubar, Ginny & Georgia: Season 1, Outer Banks: Season 3, La Reinda del Sur: Season 3, and YOU: Season 4 landed at No. 10-6. The #5 most watched show was Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The freshman seasons of Wednesday and The Glory were in the #4 and #3 spots. Ginny & Georgia: Season 2 was the 2nd most watched series of the first half of 2023 and the #1 spot goes to The Night Agent.
Netflix To Finally Release Spaceman From Adam Sandler Β
The long-awaited science fiction drama Spaceman starring Adam Sandler is finally set to premiere on Netflix on March 1, 2024. The movie was filmed two years ago in New York City and Prague, but was shelved due to the Writerβs Strike. Sandler stars as Jakub Prochazka, a Czechoslovakian astronaut who is sent on a solo mission into space to check on a strange and possibly toxic cloud of dust. Jakubβs mission coincides with the collapse of his personal life, which leads him to strike up a friendship with Hanus, an alien played by Paul Dano who turns out to be the voice of reason to Jakub. The film is based on Jaroslav Kalfarβs 2017 novel βSpaceman of Bohemiaβ which deals with themes of loneliness, heartbreak, and human existence.
Angela Bassett To Play The President in Robert DeNiroβs Netflix Series
Zero Day is the new conspiracy thriller series currently in production at Netflix and set to premiere in March. The six episode limited series stars Robert DeNiro, Matthew Modine, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, and Connie Britton. Now Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined this elite cast and will be playing the President of the United States. Hereβs the official synopsis: βhow do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even our own imagining?β
Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer Team Up As Assassins in New Amazon Series Β
Itβs the duo you didnβt know you needed, but so glad theyβre coming to a TV screen soon β Ted Lassoβs Hannah Waddingham and Hidden Figuresβ Octavia Spencer will star in an untitled series for Prime Video. The eight-episode series will star Waddingham as βJudithβ who has been working as a highly-trained assassin. According to the official synopsis, βsheβs leading a double life that Judithβs best friend Debbie (Spencer) knows nothing about β until a hit goes wrong. Now Judith and Debbie are on the run, aiming to stay one step ahead of a mysterious enemy. And while they try to figure out whatβs going on, they also have to fix their now-ruptured friendship.β The series is currently in development at Amazon. The streamer beat out six other streaming platforms vying for this series. Β
5.Β Comedian Jo Koy To Host 2024 Golden Globes
Same awards show, new host! Comedian Jo Koy is slated to host the 2024 Golden Globes on January 7, 2024. This marks the 52-year-oldβs first time hosting a major awards show. The comedian is one of the very few who has sold out stadium shows across the country, just coming off his Funny is Funny World Tour. His former girlfriend Chelsea Handler will be hosting the Criticβs Choice Awards on January 14.

Born on this Day: Mary Tyler Moore (1936-2017)
Mary Tyler Moore was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Her family moved her and her two siblings to California when she was just eight years old. She attended a Catholic high school and married in 1955 after her graduation. She was a dancer first and got her first show business breakthrough as a dancing kitchen appliance for Happy Hotpoint as the applianceβs elf. She shifted from commercials to TV roles soon after and landed a recurring role as a secretary in Private Detective in 1957.
